"We got this soundbar as it was bundled into an offer with the 2022 LG OLED C range of TVs. The packaging and listing for the soundbar talks about how they're designed to work seamlessly together.
However, that's not really the case. The Quick Start guide makes no mention of actually HOW you're supposed to connect the LG TV to the LG Soundbar (the listing says 'wireless' after all), so after some searching it eventually transpired we had to spend another £10 to buy an optical cable to connect the two.
But then, if you connect via Optical Cable to the TV, you can't use the TV's remote (even though they're both LG brand) to control the soundbar's power/volume. In fact, the user manual for the soundbar (which isn't included, I had to find and download it online) actually says "This function does not operate on LG TV's magic remote control."
Which is the remote the TV comes with.
Cue another 2 hours of googling. And it turns out you CAN connect the TV to it wirelessly, but you have to use Bluetooth for that. If you do that, the Magic Remote WILL then let you control the soundbar’s volume, but not its power, features, or anything else. And, since it’s Bluetooth, the TV will often just struggle to connect at all, the sound often drops out for a second or two while we’re watching, and then of course the sound quality is much more compressed.
So the product’s not faulty, it’s just that I can’t work out how on earth they are supposed to ‘seamlessly’ work together, and AO shouldn’t bundle them together either. Would not recommend."
"Only problem I have with soundbar is LG TV remote only works on TV but not on soundbar so volume on soundbar has to be adjusted with it's own remote so means having to use 2 remote controls."
"Good sound quality. If it came with a cable to connect to devices it would be better."
"Useful bit of kit"
"Trouble connecting to TV."
"Nice and stylish. No HDMI connection port and all different sorts of remotes connect and can affect it."
